This place has vegetation which comprises of the famous variations of Pinus Gerardina and has a lush spread of mixed scrub forest and the trees and the shrubs have broad leaves. The most found broad leaved species are Bahunia Variegata, Ficus Religiosa, Dalbergia Sissii, Mallotus Phillipensis, Acacia spp. Alternatively, this wildlife sanctuary houses eight species of mammals and fifteen species of birds. Some of the most spotted mammals in this sanctuary are Goral, leopard, barking deer,wild boar and many others. There is a whole host of birds like Rufus turtle dove, red jungle fowl, gray partridge, peafowl, black partridge, blue rock pigeon, green pigeon which flock together in this place on a seasonal basis.

A must visit time for the animal lovers is from September to March and the bird watching season can be enjoyed in its full bloom from the period from the month of March to the month of May. It is also advisable to be armed with some of the basic things like windcheaters, raincoats, woolen clothes for winters and light clothing for the summers to ensure that you have a nice time in the sanctuary. In case, if you would like to explore the option of trekking then it is recommended that you carry a pair of trekking shoes as well.

There are many taxi's available, which will take one directly to the wildlife sanctuary from the airport or the railway station. Also, there are umpteen number of buses available from the heart of the city Jammu, to reach this wildlife sanctuary.
