Jammu, is the winter capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and is famously called the “City of Temples”. The city has many localities that should not be missed while visiting Jammu and details about some of the are mentioned below:

Trikuta Nagar

This is one of the famous and oldest residential localities in Jammu. This is an upmarket and posh area located in the southern part of the city and is densely populated. This area started developing by leaps and bounds from the year 1978 and since then, has seen numerous establishments of commercial interest sprung up here, making this one of the most commercially viable options for setting up any new trade and commerce ventures. This area also includes many community shopping centres and is always amidst the hustle and bustle of city life.

Old Heritage City

This locality is one of the trade hubs of the city. The Residency road in this locality houses some of the best hotels in town, like the Hotel Asia Jammu Tawi, Hotel Premium, Hotel KC  Plaza etc. The two nearest railway stations are the Jammu Tawi Rail Way Station and the  Bajalta Rail Way Station. Some of the best schools and colleges of the city are located nearby to this place. Also, the Government Medical College and the SMGS hospital are located here. The famous food joint of Jammu namely Pahalwan Di Hatti is also located here and people from far away localities come here to taste the local cuisine of Jammu.

This area is famous for the options that it provides to the gourmets for dining out. There are many “Chowks: in this locality and the famous shopping mall named the City Square Mall is located in Dogra Chowk, Vinayaq Bazaar, in Old Heritage City. Some of the famous sub areas of this locality are: Pakki Dhaki, Peer Kho, Peer Mitha, Pir Mitha Mastgarh, Pratapgarh, Purani Mandi, Shalamar, Talab Khitikan, Vinayaq Bazaar, Kali Janni, Kanak Mandi, Karbala, Lakhdatta Bazaar, Afghan Town, Ambphalla, Fatthu Chaugan, Gujjar Nagar, Gummat and Jain Bazaar.

Raghunath Bazaar

This place is a strong attraction for the tourists as it is located very close to the Raghunath Temple. There are many local shops which sell brilliant handloom and handicrafts. Famous sweet shop Amritsarian Di Hatti is in this market area and the chocolate barfee and panjeeree sell like hot cakes in this place, as it is the specialty of this local market area.

Gandhinagar

The famous market of Gole Bazaar is located in Gandhinagar, thus making this place one of the busiest areas of the city. Some of the best schools of the city are located here. This place also has one of the oldest hospitals, which is the Gandhinagar Hospital. This area is divided into various sectors and the Green belt area is one of the posh sectors of this locality where most of the plots are of surface area of around 9000 square feet. It is considered to be one of the well planned and best laid residential areas. The Gole Market in this area is famous for modern shopping amenities like footwear, electronic gadgets, clothes etc. The oldest and the famous bakery called the Jai Hind bakery is also located in this market area.

Hari Market

This market area is famous for the availability of dry fruits and has a number of posh hotels in its proximity. Also, some of the best pubs and restaurants are within its vicinity. This place has a historical significance and has got its name from a ruler of Jammu, who was named King Hari Singh. This local market area, witnesses a lot of inflow of tourists who throng the shops to purchase dry fruits and various souvenirs in the form of handloom and handicrafts.
