This lavish extravaganza of wildlife delights extends over ten square km sq. The totality of this area, witnesses the strong presence of bamboo plantations.

On the forefront of the fauna richness one can find the broad leaved species of Lannea Grandis, Dalbergia Sissoo, A.Arabica, Acacia Catechu  and other trees and herbs. The main shrubs are , Dodonea Visacosa, Carisa spinarum, Lantana camara. The fauna category boasts of  Wild boar, Cheetal,Barking deer and the variety of Rhesus monkey which are sheltered in this sanctuary.

One can also find the abundance of a rich variety of pheasants and other migratory and resident birds. The most important species are blue rock pigeon, green pigeon, jungle bush quail, red jungle fowl and peafowl .

Best Time to visit Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu

The favourable time period to view the animals at their best is from the month of September to the month of March and for viewing the birds is from the month of March to the month of May. And, it is recommended that you should be armed with heavy woolen clothes for winters and some light clothing for the summers. Also, do not forget to pick up the umbrellas, raincoats and windcheaters to handle any sudden rain, in case you happen to encounter some downpour.
